Position Purpose

The United Nations International School (UNIS) is seeking individuals with extensive technology experience to fill the role of Senior Application Software & Systems Analyst. This resource will manage and support all data-driven systems, services, and applications within the United Nations International School (UNIS). The Senior Application Software & Systems Analyst is expected to design, implement, manage, and maintain internal and public-facing application software systems and partner with application consultants, vendors, and service providers to ensure UNIS relies on best practices within each of the school’s administrative offices. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Information Technology, they'll work to maintain and enhance the school’s application systems, reporting infrastructure,, data governance and analytics, and systems integrations. Additionally, the Senior Application Software & Systems Analyst manages all data infrastructure projects and database maintenance. In order to ensure proper usage of all available data sources the Senior Application Software & Systems Analyst plans, designs, and delivers training sessions for all staff engaged in mid to high level data entry, processing, and reporting. Through efficient data management, cyclical staff training, and regular communication with key stakeholders, the Senior Application Software & Systems Analyst ensures the highest quality of data are available to all UNIS departments. This role reports to the Deputy Director, Information Technology

Essential Responsibilities
INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT

  • Work with administrators and staff to review and/or establish effective data-driven processes and workflows around them.

  • Manage multiple data systems and applications within and across all administrative offices.

  • Responsible for management, implementation, and/or oversight of web-based systems

    utilizing school’s internal data resources.

  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and administration of new

    application systems and services.

  • Partner with the Director of Academic Technology and the Senior Manager of Information

    Technology on managing vendor relationships..

  • Serve as project manager and data expert for all systems integration projects.

  • When third-party vendors are required, responsible for oversight of design, implementation

    and maintenance of complex data systems. Coordinate communications and interactions

    between user community and service providers.

  • Ensure systems integrations operate accurately and maintain data integrity.

DATA INTEGRITY, DOCUMENTATION AND SUPPORT

  • Perform regular audits to ensure data consistency and accuracy.

  • Provide quality assurance and testing on data integration projects – responsible for

    reviewing all reports and working to identify and fix issues.

  • Partner with the Director of Academic Technology, the Senior Manager of Information

    Technology and administration to provide regular training (one-to-one and in group setting) and knowledge base access to all staff involved in application usage and data entry, processing, and reporting.

  • Recognize anomalies in data and takes necessary steps to confirm accuracy of data; investigates user concerns regarding data integrity.

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of clear internal and external documentation of all elements pertaining to data management (user reference materials, policy documents, and knowledge base articles

  • Provide support to individual users to address requests for assistance and problem resolution

    DATA PERFORMANCE AND ANALYSIS

  • Ensure proper usage of data available within the Student Information System and other school systems.

  • Assist administrative offices with comprehension of data and raising awareness of available data.

  • Responsible for systems customization and creation of additional information systems solutions as needed.

    OTHER DUTIES

  • Participate in daily operations and acts as a backup to peer technical staff

  • Perform any other delegated duties considered appropriate in order to maintain the efficient

    operation of the department.

    Hands-on Experience

  • Ability to design, implement, manage, and support data solutions.

  • Experience in managing medium to large scale software implementations.

  • Experience working with ERP and/or CRM systems.

  • Experience writing technical and functional specification. Experience in working with the

    user community in compiling business requirements.

  • Able to meet deadlines while delivering high quality results..

  • Ability to identify risks, quickly resolve issues, and influence outcomes across a variety of

    platforms and stakeholders.

  • Ability to think abstractly and reduce complex issues and/or solutions to simplified,

    actionable tasks.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, juggle multiple

    tasks.

  • Able to provide vision, expertise and technology-based solutions in long range planning in

    the area of systems architecture.

  • Familiarity and understanding of data integration, API

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Experience in data, analytics, decision support reporting, data sourcing, data delivery, and data governance.

  • Experience in writing and/or modifying existing programs, documenting solution programs for application systems, debugging programs, and developing test data.

  • Experience in analysing, planning, and verifying procedures for computer applications.

  • Experience with reporting tools.

  • Experience with database management, queries, and scripting.

  • Experience as a project manager (preferred) or senior systems analyst in software

    implementations.

  • Experience in a K-12 education environment a plus.

  • Experience managing Student Information System a plus.

  • Experience writing software, specifically relying on Javascript, Javascript libraries,

    Python, or Ruby is a plus.

  • Experience in various computer programming languages including scripting languages.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information System, other technical

    related fields, or equivalent work experience.

  • Must have over 5 years of prior working experience, knowledge in managing software

    applications, and manage data in an enterprise level environments.
