The Senior IT Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Student Computing Center during the third shift of midnight to 8:00 A.M. This position is directly responsible for preparing the lab for daily operation, including cleaning computers, testing computers and printers, trouble shooting issues, reporting problems for repair. Supervises a small team of student workers, including the hiring, terminations and evaluations of the student workers. Participates with other supervisors in overall supervision and operation of lab. Interim hours are different.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by courses in computer, network, or telecommunications equipment operation or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Six years in the operation, maintenance, or installation of computer, telecommunications, or network equipment with three years supervisory experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • None

 

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to supervise a diverse team of part-time student employees. Customer service skills and technical writing skills. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

 

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • This position will be working Third shift.

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management, or related field. 
  • Completion of the TAMU  Supervisors Certificate/s or equivalent training and education may substitute for one year of supervisory experience.

 

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • ITIL Foundations certification. Completion of TAMU  Supervisors Certificate/s.

  • None 

 

Pay Range: $16.89 - $19.75

 

Responsibilities:

  • Processes administrative paperwork for 15-20 part-time direct reports, as well as being part of a management team responsible for supervising 50 to 60 student workers. Processes hiring paperwork, termination paperwork, and student worker evaluations.
  • Works with student customers to resolve and/or report problems using lab equipment and improve the level of service and student success.

  • Pro-actively develops a plan for and participates in training and professional development sessions.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the operation of third shift of a 500 seat lab, with printers in multiple locations. Supervises an IT Team consisting of student workers. Responsible for preparing the lab for daily operations, cleaning the computers, daily maintenance of printers, and troubleshooting computers and printers.
  • Participates on teams and writes documentation. Performs other duties as assigned.
