At Punahou School, the Information Technology (IT) department strives to create an environment where access to and support for digital information, tools, devices and rich learning opportunities are fully integrated throughout the K – grade 12 environment.  The IT team designs, builds, maintains and enhances technology for students and staff enabling them to effectively utilize current and emerging technologies as tools for effective learning.

 

Punahou School is actively recruiting a Senior IT Systems Administrator to join the IT team.  The Senior IT Systems Administrator will build and support solutions for effective usage and management of an enterprise computing environment through the evaluation, configuration, documentation and maintenance of computer applications, utilities, interfaces, databases and operating system software used by Punahou School.  The Senior IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing a broad array of systems including educational, business office administration & financial, security and information technology specific applications such as active directory, service management, asset management and endpoint management.  They will assist in supporting activities as an escalation point for other IT teams on problems and projects related to systems/applications, interfaces, database or operating systems.  The Senior IT Systems Administrator will operate as a single contributor or as part of a team (on large complex projects with multiple stakeholders), interprets and translates client requirements into application solutions that align with information technology standards.  They will build, support and maintain support documents, standard operating procedures and policies related to the client-computing infrastructure.

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM –4:00 PM   

 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • Seven (7) years of IT work experience.

  • Five (5) years of information systems administration application installation and deployment, support and optimization for enterprise systems and technologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory design, configuration and administration.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of configuration and change management.

  • Experience in an environment with multiple operating systems and Windows domains.

  • Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCPIP/DHCP/DNS/LDAP/SSL/HTTP) for the purposes of troubleshooting is required.

  • General knowledge of data center infrastructure, servers, storage, VMWare, security firewall functionality.

  • Knowledge of and experience with scripting and programming languages.

  • Basic knowledge of certificate authorities.

  • General knowledge of software version control concepts, software build / deployment concepts.

  • Working knowledge of relational database such as Oracle, SQL server or MySQL.

  • Solid understanding of Data Architecture practices and ETL data conversions.

  • Familiarity with Linux system implementation and administration skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of OS directory services (Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Student Information Systems and the associated interdependencies with other educational systems

  • Five (5) years of experience working in information technology in an independent school or not-for-profit environment.

  • Three (3) years of application architecture experience

  • Experience creating solutions for: configuration management, IT asset management, Service management workflows and automation, ITIL automation.

  • Experience with Web Server (WebLogic server preferred) WebLogic; JBoss; Tomcat; and Apache
