Senior Network Administrator
As a key member of the Information Technology Department, and reporting to the Executive Director of IT, the Senior Network Administrator is responsible for deploying, configuring, administering, and maintaining the school’s network infrastructure including LAN, cloud services, VPN, Wi-Fi, internet gateways, and telephony as well as its core business systems, such as Office 365, Azure, Finalsite Enrolment, PowerSchool, Edsby, RE NXT, FE NXT, and Billing Management. This role supports all faculty and operational staff in carrying out their day-to-day responsibilities, while also ensuring that systems are optimized to provide students with a seamless and effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Configure, manage, and maintain firewalls, switches, access points, security cameras, door access systems, VPN, servers (including virtual servers), printers, and copiers.

Manage and maintain cloud solutions, specifically Azure, Office 365 (email, OneDrive, and Teams), SaaS, and PaaS.

Ensure all hardware and software are configured to industry standards and optimized for performance.

Enhance the scalability, reliability, and resiliency of IT infrastructure and services.

Strengthen cybersecurity by implementing, managing, and maintaining appropriate technical measures and controls.

Maximize network performance through monitoring, troubleshooting, and scheduling regular security patches and upgrades.

Collect, review, and store system logs, taking prompt action on anomalies.

Document and carry out disaster recovery and business continuity procedures for all systems.

Perform, test, and validate regular data and system backups, including recovery testing.

Conduct regular audits (minimum twice yearly) to ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Stay current with IT trends through research and professional development.

Liaise with third-party vendors, external contractors, and internal staff to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.

Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware, network appliances, software, and licenses.

Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

Advanced Cisco Certification (or equivalent) required; network security certification considered an asset.

Minimum of five years’ related experience in network administration, network security, maintenance, MS Azure, Windows servers, and cloud services.

Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and maintaining firewalls, switches, access points, DNS, load balancers, VLANs, VPNs, Windows servers, security door access, security cameras, and content filtering in alignment with industry security standards.

Strong technical knowledge of anti-malware applications, network applications, all network layers, routing, switching, and related protocols (TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, SSH, SNMP), as well as encryption.

Proficiency in Active Directory, Azure, Group Policy, Office 365, Google Workspace (G Suite), and virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V).

Ability to script operational activities using PowerShell.

Solid understanding of policy definition, access control, log management, and network monitoring.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues.

Well-developed organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of providing excellent customer service.
