The Network Services group is responsible for maintaining the integrity, security and availability of the network infrastructure for the entire organization.  This includes the University and Health   System.  This position will monitor the entire environment and respond to issues (via Zenoss, Riverbed ARX, Aruba Airwave, etc.), process work requests such as ethernet provisioning, DNS / IP address changes, wireless provisioning, etc.  This position will also perform routine maintenance such as hardware refresh and/or code updates during scheduled off hours maintenance windows.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least three years related networking experience. Demonstrated experience with routers and switches. Experience with wireless infrastructure. Experience with VoIP deployments. Demonstrated experience with monitoring systems (Zenoss, Aruba Airwave, etc.). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Provide support for Telecommunications staff as needed especially including VoIP.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical details in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical staff.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals. 

  • Ability to provide remote and/or onsite after hours on call support following an established schedule that rotates between senior network engineers.

  • Assist in answering the Network Services call center to provide tier 3 technical support for IT personnel.

  • Ability to work flexible days and shifts, including maintenance windows, as necessary.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with Extreme/Avaya routers and switches.

  • Experience with Aruba wireless.

  • Experience with firewalls

  • Experience with DNS / IP address management systems

  • Experience with application performance monitoring solutions (Riverbed ARX)

  • Experience with AAA / NAC solutions (Freeradius / Aruba Clearpass)
