Harvard University IT (HUIT) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to be part of the Administrative Technology Team. This group is a part of the Administrative Technology Systems (ATS) department, supporting a variety of enterprise and academic applications.

The Sr Project Manager will work as a member of the broader Administrative Technology Services (ATS) Department in collaboration with technical and business partners in order to deliver strategic software decisions and solutions to the community at Harvard. 

The Sr Business Systems Analyst / Project Manager will work closely with various user communities, fellow team members, technical teams, and vendors to evaluate, design, test, implement, and validate solutions to support ongoing and emerging needs. 
 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the collaboration of leadership, business partners, business systems analysts, product managers, and practice managers to assess broad systematic requirements and use cases. Lead the establishment, planning, and conducting of user group meetings in order to solicit feedback and input into systems processes 
  • Business and service model design; Develop proposals for ongoing and operational service models to sustain new services post implementation
  • Develop proposals and requests for proposals; Create evaluative tools to facilitate proposals assessment and project team consensus, Lead user groups in the detailing of systems specifications and business process workflows and business event lifecycles, Assist in the identification of configuration, and security requirements to be implemented, Coordinate with vendors and technical partners to answer questions on tool evaluations and project questions
  • Drive detailed project management; Document all group meeting artifacts and action items, Log, track, and follow project issues through the project life cycle, Identify change management requirements, assist in the development of end user communications, and marketing materials, Develop presentations and present at various user group and stakeholder meetings,  Serve as resource to coordinate and schedule cross group project meetings  
  • Participate in all scrum events including daily stand up meetings, sprint planning, user demos, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated cross-functional project management experience

 

Additional Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in related field (e.g., computer science, engineering) or equivalent experience required.
  • 5-7 years experience in systems, business analysis, technical support, or similar information technology roles is desired.
  • Experience with business process analysis and writing business requirements documents and/or functional specifications.
  • Must understand basic fundamentals of iterative development, software development processes and procedures; understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics. 
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices 
  • Demonstrate adaptability, flexibility and the ability to get up to speed quickly in the Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) environment and with the system landscape. 
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, organization, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have proven ability to initiate and manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines and shifting priorities. 
  • Able to work independently and within small and large teams. 
  • Knowledge/experience/willingness to learn Agile techniques: user stories, continuous integration, continuous testing, continuous improvement.
