At Punahou School, the Information Technology (IT) department strives to create an environment where access to and support for digital information, tools, devices and rich learning opportunities are fully integrated throughout the K – grade 12 environment.  The IT team designs, builds, maintains and enhances technology for students and staff enabling them to effectively utilize current and emerging technologies as tools for effective learning.

 

Punahou School is actively recruiting a Senior Project Manager to join the IT team.  The Senior Project Manager manages multiple projects simultaneously, incorporating cross-functional personnel into cohesive project teams by:

  • using professional project management practices to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close projects per regulatory Project Management Methodology standards;

  • managing projects to acceptable levels of scope control, budget control, and cost control while assessing and managing project risks;

  • using leadership and communication skills to lead teams effectively and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders;  

  • assuring legal, internal audit, financial, regulatory, safety and all other requirements are met.

The Senior Project Manager will be required to assess the existing project management environment and formulate plans and recommendations to improve governance, standardization of project templates & tools, formation of cross-functional teams, and project reporting & dashboards.  The Senior Project Manager is expected to keep current with new project management methodologies.  As necessary, they will champion the adoption of new methods and techniques - ever-enhancing Punahou School’s project delivery capabilities.

Work Year: Year Round

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM –4:00 PM   

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field ; or equivalent work experience.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Seven (7) years of project management experience.

  • Five (5) years of experience involving the implementation of technology related projects preferably within the organizational structure of the Information Technology department.

  • Thorough knowledge of project management standards and methodologies, including initiating and closing projects, developing work breakdown structures, tracking progress and status, managing scope, mitigating risk, etc., and using project management software tools.

  • High working knowledge of technologies including data centers, networking, the role applications such as financial and human capital management (HCM) play in the enterprise, personal computers, general office productivity software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, project management, etc.

  • Full understanding of Project Management Methodology as applied to complex projects.

  • Detailed understanding of project approval and reporting processes including regulatory application & reporting mechanics

  • Strong understanding of operational environments in which projects will be integrated.
