Wildwood School seeks a visionary technology leader for a newly created position reporting directly to its Head of School. Uncommonly collaborative and decidedly progressive, Wildwood School is uniquely positioned to benefit from the leadership and contributions of an experienced, knowledgeable, results-oriented, and responsive advocate for technology integration in schools. The position will serve as a key member of the Head’s administrative leadership team and other committees and task forces.

A dynamic, college preparatory, coed day school on two urban campuses in West Los Angeles with approximately 735 students enrolled in kindergarten through 12th grade, the school’s Outreach Center has a fifteen-year history of scaling innovative programs by providing professional development to teachers and administrators in public and independent schools around the world.

The opportunities and challenges of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Inspiring and leading the development and implementation of a technology mission and vision specific to the pedagogy and culture of Wildwood;
• Building, managing, and leading a group of technology staff members, internal and contract staff, and technology vendors;
• Planning and overseeing the acquisition and application of hardware and software to serve student, faculty, and office populations;
• Effectively collaborating with others and managing technology projects across departments, while leveraging expert knowledge of what is required for successful implementation of new technology platforms and tools;
• Working closely with program directors to develop, implement, and provide training for faculty in an integrated technology curriculum;
• Developing and directing technology support structures and systems for Wildwood’s vibrant, diverse students, faculty, and staff;
• Providing leadership in all things digital, from cameras to phones to information management;
• Inspiring a culture of innovation to meet the evolving needs of today’s learners.

In our search for the right person for this position, the following qualities will be preferred:

• Strong technology background and experience;
• Classroom teaching experience;
• Keen understanding of education and the myriad complexities of driving educational innovation in a school setting;
• Experience in managing a significant technological infrastructure and technology support staff;
• Demonstrated capability in creating and managing systems to meet the needs of constituencies;
• Knowledge of current trends and recent innovations with educational and other technologies;
• A synthesized vision for the future of technology infrastructures within schools, including a place for cloud computing, mobile technologies, database services, and outsourcing;
• Experience in guiding the implementation of technology-driven communications platforms for faculty and staff, students, and parents that successfully integrate websites, intranets, school databases, and social media platforms;
• A master’s degree or PhD preferred;
• Leadership, creativity, enthusiasm, innovation, collaborative problem-solving;
• Very strong oral and written communication skills.
