Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of approximately 980 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. This is a part-time, 20-hours per week position that will begin Friday, August 24, 2018.

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Hub is our Lower School's space dedicated to project-based, hands-on learning and exploration to spark imagination and creative problem-solving. The hub is fully equipped with a variety of tools and materials students can use to prototype ideas and explore how different materials and technologies can be used. 

The STEAM Assistant will have opportunities to develop and execute hands-on projects with Lower School students in collaboration with the STEAM Integrator and Materials Librarian. 

Duties:

  • Collaborate with STEAM Integrator and Materials Librarian to design curriculum and projects 
  • Participate in regular planning meetings 
  • Research apps and other new technologies that expand STEAM skills
  • Troubleshooting technical issues with computers, iPads and other digital equipment for students
  • Prepare materials for classroom teachers and projects as needed
  • Assist with maintaining physical appearance of the STEAM Hub
  • Assist with creating, organizing and sustaining the STEAM Materials Library
  • Assist with clerical duties - photocopying, reporting
  • Assist with preparation for class visits to the STEAM Hub
  • Assist students with design projects as needed
  • Substitute teach for STEAM Integrator or supervise space as needed

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor's degree, relevant teaching experience both in traditional and non-traditional setting a plus.
  • Candidates should have an interest in technology, making, and curriculum design.
