STEM Educator and Technology Integration Specialist will partner with the Academic Dean, IT Director, and classroom teachers to provide authentic, project-based and experiential learning opportunities for K-8 students. The position reports to the Academic Dean.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast and engage in ongoing learning of current technologies, pedagogies and curriculum trends and collaboratively work to implement new initiatives.
  • Make recommendations for technology and pedagogy that supports curricular and administrative goals of the school.
  • Develop and teach STEM classes in grades K-8.
  • Plan with classroom teachers, librarians and learning specialists to design technology integrated learning experiences to foster critical thinking and student technology and innovation skill development.
  • Inspire and further develop a culture of innovation, exploration, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Provide coaching and modeling for teachers in organizing STEM instruction, student assessment, lesson design and related instructional delivery, including effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Work with students on individual or small group projects.
  • Organize and maintain materials in the computer lab and STEM Studio.
  • Partnering with the Academic Dean to oversee the professional learning of the faculty related to educational technology and innovation, lead workshops, gather resources and provide easy access to them, and connect colleagues with current trends.
  • Be the voice of educational technology and innovation, communicating with teachers, students, parents, professional colleagues, and community supporters about our work and development in this area.

Qualifications

  • Teaching Credential/Master’s degree preferred
  • BA and prior teaching experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to teach integrated STEM content across K-8 grade levels
  • Background in curriculum design, including a project-based approach
  • Familiarity with integrated learning and planning
  • Experience in an independent school setting helpful
