ASU Library seeks a highly motivated, collaborative and service-oriented librarian to lead its newly established STEM Division (science, technology, engineering and math), comprised of a diverse team of librarians actively engaged with students, faculty and the community in innovative ways.

The STEM Division Head will model, explore and enact new workflows that both challenge and invite librarians to deliver high-level service through liaising, embedding, workshopping, innovating, teaching and participating in research with students, faculty and the community university-wide. The successful candidate will help to create a positive, dynamic service atmosphere, fueled by opportunity and trust, and will contribute to an organizational growth mindset by encouraging learning and experimentation.

This leader will provide open door availability and consultation along with substantive and timely evaluative feedback as needed for all team members. She/he must work successfully with campus partners across ASU departments and institutes, and seek to build strong relationships with ASU faculty, across disciplines and programs, in an effort to advance research and student learning. Most critically, the STEM Division Head will be committed to students’ academic success at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Engagement and Learning Services, this senior position is one of three division heads for ASU Library, and is responsible for a team of librarians serving the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, which accounts for one-quarter of ASU’s student population.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline
  • At least 6 years professional experience in an academic library
  • Supervisory experience
  • Record of scholarly publications and/or presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading and identifying opportunities to implement and support emerging literacy instruction with campus curricular priorities to design and develop collaborative courses, modules, and research that support curriculum design.
  • Experience in providing reference consultations and instructional services
  • Grant writing experience
  • Experience with sponsored research
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively both independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated understanding of the research process and data lifecycle in the sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with faculty, students, library staff

Salary and Rank: This is a continuing appointment track academic professional position Associate/Librarian Rank and salary dependent upon experience.
