The successful candidate will provide leadership across the school’s TK-8 program by overseeing the effective integration into the academic program of information and communication technologies. The Coordinator’s oversight will include partnering closely with other academic leaders at the school in pursuit of shared strategic visions, mentoring and supporting teachers to enhance their curricula and pedagogy, directing the school’s Technology Department, and enthusiastically championing Wornick’s development as a leader in the effective and creative use of technology and 21st-century teaching and learning practices. The Coordinator reports directly to the Head of School. This is a 12-month, salaried position, with competitive compensation and a full benefits package. The start date for the position is July 1, 2017.

-Delivers STEM – oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through project-based learning methods. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals.
-Planning and design STEM curriculum TK-8, including stand-alone units and integrated curriculum with other content areas.
-Provide coaching and modeling for teachers in organizing STEM instruction, student assessment, lesson design and related instructional delivery, including effective teaching and learning strategies.
-Facilitate STEM instructional strategies for classroom use through demonstration lessons, one-on-one observation and coaching, and facilitating group observations. Assist with the selection of core and supplemental STEM materials for STEM cart.
-Collaborate regularly with our Science Coordinator.
-Teach Middle School electives that engage students in student-centered inquiry STEM design.
-Oversee the professional learning of the faculty related to educational technology and innovation, in collaboration including by visiting and observing in classrooms, providing feedback and direct targeted support, leading workshops, gathering resources and providing easy access to them, and connecting colleagues with current trends.
-Serve as the public face and champion of Wornick’s efforts in educational technology and innovation, communicating with teachers, students, parents, professional colleagues, and community supporters.

Qualifications:

Preferred: A clear/valid teaching credential in appropriate grade level (K-8) and area of study and a minimum of five years of successful classroom experience. Experience in teaching Science, Technology and/or Math.

Strong familiarity with and commitment to objectives of 21st-century learning
