Kingsway College School (KCS) is looking for a dynamic individual to help manage a complex IT infrastructure on a 6-month contract. We are looking for an SMT who is motivated, eager to learn, and wanting to expand their skill set. This position offers mentorship with a senior IT leader.

The SMT will work full time, five days a week from Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. starting on July 5th. (earlier start time is possible)

Remuneration will be determined based on qualifications.

Operations and Support Duties:

-Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Perform daily backup/restore operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
- Perform regular file archival and purge, as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Provide Tier I support per request from various users. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted users.
- Ensure that all IT policies are enforced when making any changes to the various information systems or giving actionable advice to users.

Maintenance Duties:

-Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis according to our standards, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
-Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
-Perform monthly pro-active maintenance procedures and complete the appropriate reports.
-Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
-Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

Required Technical Skills:

- Support for Microsoft Windows Server and workstation operating systems
- Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Basic Networking Knowledge (DHCP, DNS, TCP IP)
- Workstation deployment methodologies an asset (Microsoft Deployment Tools)
- Support for MacOS and iOS (Apple Configurator knowledge an asset)
