Salary: $31.56 - $41.16 / Per Hour

Position Summary:

The primary function of the Systems Administrator position is to support a variety of technical projects related to the setup, maintenance, and support of computer systems within Humboldt County School District. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the support of various software systems, computer lab equipment, system readiness for standardized testing, web conferencing software and hardware, setup and integration of general technology related items.

 

This position will also serve as a general technical support specialist during high call volume periods by taking incoming requests from all HCSD staff members. The work is performed under supervision of the Technology Supervisor. The primary duties of this individual are performed throughout HCSD, with occasional planned travel in support of end users. Occasionally this position will have a shared responsibility of extended support which may include "on call" evening, night, or weekend shifts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Build, maintain, server infrastructure and networking components.
  • Proficiency in Cisco, Active Directory, Windows and Linux environments.
  • Capable of building and maintaining SQL databases.
  • Provide technical (Help Desk) support for all HCSD system users.
  • Advise and help in the implementation of technology including laboratory and classroom systems.
  • Develop and create documentation and support materials for new and upcoming technologies.
  • Provide technical support for student and staff systems in a timely manner.
  • Provide remote and/or onsite troubleshooting solutions for computer or operating system issues that affect course delivery.
  • Work closely with other departments for collaborating IT projects.
  • Coordinate with other staff and stakeholders on technical issues as needed.
  • Provide technical support to web conferencing system users.
  • Design and programming work related to file transfers or automated scripting.
  • Analyze complex computer systems, identify problems, and develop and implement logical conclusions and effective solutions.
  • Develop and recommend cost effective technical system improvements.
  • Operate a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties.
  • Other duties outlined by the Director of Technology or Technical Support Supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prefer degree in Computer Science or related technology field.
  • Prefer 5+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • Demonstrated success in working with people in establishing goals, objectives, and management plans.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience/training in providing technical support
  • Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under pressure of time sensitive deadlines.
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

-Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field.

-Prefer 5 years of experience in an education technology related field.

-Knowledge of analog and digital telephone systems

-Knowledge of analog and digital video systems (including DVR/NVR technologies).

-Experience with low voltage intercom and bell systems.

-Demonstrated successful project management skills.

-Certifications, experience, or related course work (i.e. Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft).

-Expertise in setting up and supporting synchronous communication including voice, video, and chat.

-Expertise in supporting technology, experience supporting end user systems and networking.

-Experience with web conferencing technology.

-Experience with iOS and Android devices

-Experience Google Suites (Formerly Google Apps for Education, GAFE).

-Experience using and supporting email systems such as GroupWise, Exchange and Gmail.
