Job Summary

Manages the overall operation of VPCPF applications in the role of the system admin for assigned applications. Provides support and technical direction for problem resolution to all end users for all managed systems. Maintains intermediate knowledge of the concepts, business practices and procedures of tasks related to managed applications. Evaluates problems and suggests technical solutions and supports team decisions. Interprets information, ideas and instructions and communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing including materials intended for distribution. Maintains documentation of applications from an administrative and end user perspective. Determines causes of unusual occurrences and apply standard principles and practices to determine and implement solutions. Monitors systems, and manages the operation of all assigned applications.

Provides day to day problem resolution for university and enterprise systems. Supervises the exchange of data between interconnected applications. Develops and revises specifications for new functionality, tests system upgrades and enhancements, and works with vendors, AIT and other technical personnel to revise, enhance, and repair system functionality. Performs high level technical analyses, assessment of application deficiencies, refines technical and business processes to ensure adherence to best practices for areas such as compliance, security, testing and training.

Assists in providing training on technical systems and processes to departmental staff members. Responsible for receiving and assessing requests for access to managed applications in accordance with policies and guidelines established by the Committee of Data Stewards and department standard operating procedures. Responsible for ensuring that users receive and complete University mandatory compliance trainings and department training as dictated by the requirements of the particular data subject area to which they are assigned. Participates with Capital Planning and Facilities on select departmental committees and work groups. Supports team’s strategic plan for all systems and support.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics, business systems, education, or related discipline and two years of system support, technology management, training, or software development.

Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Experience in analyzing complex problems and producing concrete, actionable solutions. Experience leading detailed requirements and specification activities. Experience in resolving highly complex integration issues involving multiple technologies and cross-unit coordination. Experience in administration of systems including: building, configuration, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a wide variety of systems, such as housing, dining, or educational databases. Knowledge of technology training best practices, technical support, interacting and support for wide clientele, and ticket management system. Experience with designing training sessions, documenting practices and technological design of systems, finance and data management protocols and policies. Excellent communication skills, including a customer service attitude and willingness to work as part of a team in a dynamic and complex environment. Ability to work with a variety of people with varying degrees of technical knowledge. High levels of accuracy, problem-solving, dependability and responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

Industry standard certifications. Three years of system support, technology management, training, or software development.
