About NCCS

New Canaan Country School is a co-ed, independent day school for students in Pre-K (ages 3 & 4) through Grade 9 living in Fairfield and Westchester Counties. Job Overview: The Systems Administrator is an integral part of the technology team and provides instructional support and technical assistance to the Staff, Faculty and Community. This is a 12-month position reporting to the Director(s) of Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Data Systems
    • Liaise with stakeholders (e.g., Enrollment Management, Advancement, Accounting) to leverage data and data systems for strategic progress and to further ongoing initiatives
    • Train stakeholders on best practices, available tools, and foster/facilitate ongoing training opportunities
    • Administer all aspects of the databases (user/access level management, data integrity, data entry procedures, security)
    • Partner with Blackbaud support/success manager(s) to effectively assist colleagues with proper implementation, questions, troubleshooting
  • Technical Systems
    • Proactively build connections with all stakeholders and create opportunities to teach and support all aspects of technology
    • Create and maintain school forms, reports, lists, and queries
    • Manage technology across the campus, including but not limited to providing Level 2+ support (hardware and software) to parents, students, faculty, and staff
    • Support day to day operations, software/hardware deployment strategies, planning and integration of classroom technologies, management of security and user access levels
    • Oversee certain vendors, researching, identifying, and forecasting future needs/growth
  • Team Membership
    • Foster a positive working relationship with colleagues as a member and representative of the tech department 
    • Support the help desk 
    • Be flexible in managing additional duties as may be assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, information management systems, database administration, or related field.
  • Experience with systems and technology planning, development and implementation, design and administration, data flow and interoperability, project management, and end-user training.
  • Skills and experience with database management systems. 
  • Knowledge of MacOS, iOS, Windows, and experience with Google Suite, Blackbaud, and/or other similar school back-end systems.
  • Confidentiality, integrity, and security when working with personal and sensitive data
  • Customer-service orientation supported by cultural competency skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Experience with technical writing and creating instructional guides and tutorials
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues on mobile devices, desktops, laptop, and tablets
  • Experience in a data system conversion/implementation
