Job Overview  

Chapin relies on its IT systems and infrastructure to support faculty, staff, and students in achieving academic and business excellence in a predominantly MAC environment. As a Systems Administrator, you will utilize your technical expertise to enhance the school's efficiency. You will maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, laptops, iPads, software, and hardware.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about Apple technologies (specifically macOS, iOS, and tvOS) and possesses intermediate skills in Cisco switching, Meraki wireless networking, Windows Server, Active Directory, Bash scripting, Helpdesk leadership, and familiarity with school technologies such as Canvas and Veracross.

Major responsibilities:

  • Perform routine system monitoring, audits, and other maintenance tasks to ensure the stability and availability of the network environment.
  • Perform server administration tasks, including group policies and security management.
  • Assist in deploying and managing Cisco switches and Meraki wireless network devices, including basic configurations, VLAN setups, and troubleshooting network connectivity.
  • Administer and manage Apple devices, including troubleshooting, software installations, and configuration management using Jamf Pro.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation, data processing, and system monitoring.
  • Manage and maintain the Zendesk Ticketing System for the Helpdesk.
  • Provide Helpdesk support for end-users with technical issues related to Apple devices and associated applications; provide after-hours on-call support. 
  • Provide A/V, technology, and Livestreaming support for meetings, conferences, and events, including setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of audiovisual equipment.
  • Track and maintain hardware and software inventory and facilitate collection and distribution of technology equipment.
  • Assist with all technical onboarding procedures for new faculty and staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar IT role.
  • Experience with macOS and Apple hardware repair, five+ years preferred. 
  • Experience with Microsoft and cloud computing technologies-Windows Server, Office365, Active Directory, Azure AD, virtualization, etc.
  • Experience with databases, Networks (LAN, WAN), and network security management.
  • Experience with scripting (Python, Bash) and automation tools.
  • Ability to resolve emergency issues promptly.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Cisco switching concepts and Meraki wireless networking.
  • Knowledge of Apple School Manager, JAMF Pro, or other Mobile Device Management.
  • Knowledge of Classroom technologies (Webex Infrastructure, Apple TV, Zoom, Canvas).
  • Experience working with ticketing systems; Knowledge of Zendesk is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, dependability, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Consistently demonstrate an active commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • A degree or certification in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration). 
  • Relevant IT Professional certifications are a plus (eg, CCNA, MCSE, JAMF 300+, Apple).

The salary will be commensurate with experience, the range is $80,000-$110,000.
