The Department of Business Core Systems is currently seeking a Systems Administrator who will perform the following job duties:

 

  • Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure and VM technology for ERP system(s) to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service

  • Perform ERP module installations for upgrades and patch and log all technical upgrade steps

  • Work with Business Systems Analysts, DevOps engineers, database administrators and ERP programming staff in coordinating system-wide updates, fixes, and upgrades

  • Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks

  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment

  • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes

  • Ensure the performance and reliability of ERP systems

  • Support integration of changes in test, preproduction, and production environments

  • Evaluate problems and determine the required course of action

  • Respond to escalated system problems

  • Monitor and maintain a comprehensive set of performance metrics for all system features, including maintaining history reports that identify and address reoccurring problems

  • Create and continually review checklists for standard operating procedures

  • Prepare documentation for customer support, such as server and client hardware/software configurations

  • Research and evaluate emerging ERP technologies

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or Computer Science or other related field and three (3) years relevant technical or business work experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator

  • In depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.

  • Hands on experience with job automation and management software

  • Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts

  • Working knowledge in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting

  • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP

  • Solid interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with people of all levels of information technology expertise and comfort in varied organizational relationships

  • Experience with PeopleSoft ERP system, Nagios, Zabbix, Puppet, CA Workload Automation, JSCAPE MFT, Oracle or Red Hat Linux, Jenkins Automation Server and Oracle OVM Server, VMWare ESXi with VSphere Hypervisor.
