POSITION OBJECTIVE: The systems engineer in the department of information technology is responsible for the management of the School’s network infrastructure and all related desktop and application support. The systems engineer works closely with other members of the information technology department.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience required.

Advanced knowledge of Windows Server Active Directory and infrastructure, and Microsoft Exchange Server.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Install, configure and troubleshoot solutions including but not limited to Microsoft Exchange, Barracuda, VMWare, EMC, HP, DeepNines, and Cisco.
Install configure and support Windows Server 2003-2012, Active Directory, Windows desktop operating systems, and MS Office 2003-2013.
Build standard Windows desktop which includes, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and user specific applications.
Monitor and maintain all network switches, firewalls, and other network security appliances.
Monitor system availability and performance, maintain backups, and test and implement recovery procedures.
Implement and monitor security measures, software updates, and anti-virus software.
Maintain network monitoring and control tools.
Perform fault management and problem resolution in a complex, mission critical network environment.
Respond to trouble tickets submitted by users, routine alarms and network issues.
Assist in planning and implementing future infrastructure and systems deployments.
Assist with maintaining compliance for industry certifications such as PCI
