Tech Department Manager

The Tech Manager reports to the Director of Finance and oversees the daily operations of the Tech Department, keeping the goals and tasks of the department in line with the seasonal needs of the school.

  • Oversees Support Specialist & SysAdmin positions, liaises with Tech Consultant

 

  • Monitors & assigns tickets within our tech ticketing system, provides level 2 support above the Support Specialist for wi-fi, Active Directory, Office365, GSuite and Adobe issues.

 

  • Identifies appropriate models, obtains quotes & performs bulk hardware purchasing of end-user hardware, works with SysAdmin & Support Specialist to deploy it.

 

  • Runs weekly departmental meetings.

 

  • Works with the Systems Administrator & Tech Consultant to manage strategic projects for the department relating to hardware & software implementation, excepting Ed-Tech, LMS and SIS Database / recordkeeping tools.

 

  • Maintains vendor relationship for classroom AV & print service vendors; schedules onsite visits for service or installation from both.

 

  • Coordinates with Performing Arts department for the audiovisual staffing of livestreamed special events on campus.

 

  • Plans & coordinates annual student wi-fi onboarding event.

 

  • Works with the Systems Administrator to perform annual student onboarding/offboarding: communicates with parents regarding annual new student account setup procedures, communicates with graduating students about preparation for annual account closures.

 

  • Receives notice of employees departing the school from Registrar, deactivates AD & Google accounts accordingly

 

Requirements:

Strong written and oral communication skills, quick thinker, people person

Past experience administering GSuite for Education / Google Workspace

Deep familiarity with mail merge tools for email

Experience managing a team or Helpdesk

Project management experience

2 – 5 years working in a K-12 school environment

 

 

Desirable:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Office365 & Azure, Group Policy

Microsoft Sharepoint administration skills

Experience working with Extron & Epson or similar audiovisual systems

Experience working with Tricaster or similar live broadcasting equipment
