Reporting to the Deputy CIO (IT Development, Mobility and Smart Cities) and as part of the UTO, this Technical Product Manager position will contribute to the effective development, deployment and management of marketing technology tools, apps, and sites that build our prospective student and student influencer pipeline lead funnel and the supporting integrations and CRM platforms to appropriately utilize collected data to convert student recruitment and enroll students into our ASU Online environment. This individual will need to know how to look across a technology stack to create a comprehensive solution as well as interface to the appropriate functional stakeholders to instill confidence in the built solution as well as to assure achieved goals are met. You will be responsible for managing cross-functional responsibilities while working closely with technical resources, functional stakeholders, Project Managers and other Product Owners to implement products and services. Your experience leading and influencing diverse teams will be an asset to this role and your ability to 'productize' necessary solutions will be critical to your success. You will act as a point of contact and serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external) and the IT development team capturing the voice of the customer. You will serve as a liaison between business units (ASU Marketing HUB, EdPlus' ASU Online), technology teams (including IT security), and other support teams. You will identify and help coordinate assignments of internal and external resources to meet product requirements.

Works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against product requirements; identifies and acquires necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with sponsoring source's expectations.

Essential Duties

  • Drive effective product delivery, integration, and coordination, through a highly collaborative approach and effective resourcing, budgeting, product & project and process management, communication, and reporting

  • Select, engage, and coordinate where appropriate public and private partners from industry, government, and academia in the initiation, leadership and management of the product

  • Define product initiative scope, identify clear opportunities for impact, set the goals for the product, and establish clear evaluation criteria

  • Utilizing user-centered design, lead the development and the deployment of pilots with partners and other stakeholders

  • Develop the execution strategy and product plan

  • Work with third party vendors and brand teams to manage, prioritize and execute agreed upon deliverables

  • Partner with development, project management, and leads on major projects and with the development team to understand functionality, negotiate scope, and implementation for future troubleshooting - especially on third party integration projects.

  • Oversee the development of an architectural diagram that covers all end-to-end product design and development across the enterprise.

  • Partner with Program Management for alignment of product priority and overall program roadmap.

  • Partner with Digital Platform Engineering team and Release Manager on tasks needing to be coordinated with releases

  • Partner with Digital Analytics Manager for any reporting needs

  • Oversee user experience efforts for designing solutions that are fit for purpose

  • Develop interaction and journey diagrams as needed

  • Verify business requirements, functional specifications and/or user stories from various technical and business units

  • Contribute to the RFP process of new vendors

  • Manage in-person and virtual teams

  • Support and deliver the product review and approval by sponsors and product review committees

  • Drive the deployment and utilization of digital interactive tools

  • Depending on the phase of the product, the role will entail a combination of the above or more focus on certain responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field and seven (7) years related experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role; one (1) of which is in product management, or any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Masters (or higher) degree in Computer Engineering or technology, or similar fields

  • Experience in private or public sector, including working on or consulting on relevant and related topics (5 years)

  • Experience with thought leadership regarding Product Management, including published articles, speeches/presentations in international forums, and conference participation

  • Evidence of driving entrepreneurial projects, starting new teams, and identifying opportunities for impact in crowded spaces

  • Experience in designing and driving medium to large-scale product design and delivery

  • Experience in engaging global leaders from the private and/or public sector

  • Experience in quickly developing a meaningful perspective on internal and external issues that have organizational impact

  • Evidence in having leadership skills with the experience to manage and motivate high performing, dispersed teams through volatility, uncertainty, complexity, risk and ambiguity

  • Experience in presentation and facilitation skills

  • Evidence of effective verbal and written language skills in English; verbal proficiency in other languages would be an asset

  • Experience in recent digital platforms including working knowledge of CRM and Marketing Automation tools; Salesforce experience a plus

  • Experience with connecting siloed data sources and systems using an Enterprise Service Bus; Mulesoft experience a plus

  • Working experience leveraging Master Data Management concepts as part of an implementation strategy

Working Environment

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.

  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
