Technology and Innovation Coordinator, One Year Appointment, August 2017 – August 2018

Technology and Innovation Help Desk Manager

Summary of Position:

The Technology and Innovation (TI) Coordinator is responsible for the development of online modules, instructional and training materials. This position is responsible for onboarding new faculty and staff into the BSS technology environment and other training as required. This position will coordinate a variety of technology projects. In addition, the TI Coordinator will support day-to-day Help Desk activities as needed.

Specific Accountabilities Include:

  • Develops and maintains a BSS repository of online training resources, including modules, courses, FAQ’s and myBSS Technology and Innovation (TI) Groups. Works collaboratively with other team members and School Administration to provide input into teacher and student skills development
  • Collaborates and consults with staff, faculty and students to understand where technology skills development is required, on an ongoing basis
  • Promotes self-help philosophy for all BSS users, whereby students, teachers and staff would be directed to self-help repositories and other resources that provide easy “how to” help
  • Provides onboarding technology training for new and returning faculty and staff, via online or F2F
  • Provides, with other team members, a check-in with new staff on their ability to use BSS systems
  • Coordinates implementation of technology projects, including but is not limited to, research, work-back plan and schedules, task coordination, update communications and training requirements
  • Provides and documents front line technical support to users, both staff and students – in person, on the phone and online via the Help Desk ticket system
  • Follows up with users both F2F and online to communicate status of problem resolution and ensure that user needs are met
  • Assists in the research and development of current and new Help Desk processes and systems
  • Helps in the setup of new systems, as requested, as well as provides input and just-in-time training where required
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience and Attributes Include:

  • Related degree, diploma or other relevant training
  • Excellent experience in the development of training materials both for face-to-face instruction, online and self-help
  • Excellent project management experience
  • Technical proficiency and experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of Mac and PC hardware and software in a professional, enterprise environment
  • Experience in use of a Help Desk ticketing system
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills -able to handle multiple priorities in a professional manner
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and customer service skills, initiative and judgment needed to interact with students, colleagues, staff and vendors
  • Sense of humour
