The CCI TSO creates, implements, and maintains technology solutions to support research, education, and administration for the College of Computing and Informatics. The TSOmembers collaborate with college faculty, staff and students to support research within many areas of computing and informatics.

Primary Purpose of Position

This position will work as part of the Technology Solution Office’s software research and development team. This position will work on software development and technology implementation projects, and provide consulting services to research teams and labs within computing and informatics. This position will have particular expertise in software development and technology architecture, and will be an expert on current and emerging technologies to support research and development.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

The employee’s principal responsibilities are to serve as an expert in the areas of technology architecture and software development with the TSO. In this role, the employee’s responsibilities include:
• Providing research, consulting and technology solutions to support research and development projects.
• Serving as a resident expert on current and emerging technologies to support research and development.
• Providing expertise through the planning, design, implementation, testing and deployment stages of the TSO software development efforts.
• Working with clients to translate needs into innovative technology and/or software solutions.
• Documenting and communicating product and prototype requirements to the TSO.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelors and Masters degree with at least one of these degrees in computer science, software engineering, information systems or a closely related field. Minimum of three years professional experience in software development.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• At least five years of experience leading software design/architecture efforts
• Broad and cutting-edge knowledge of new and emerging technologies, solutions and trends
• Skilled in multi-tiered web and mobile application development
• Demonstrated ability to craft multi-faceted technology solutions
• Skilled with translating customer needs into innovative technology solutions
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong project management skills
