Echo Horizon School is a private, independent elementary school located in Culver City, CA. The school’s mission is to educate children in a collaborative environment that is academically challenging and developmentally appropriate and that promotes mutual respect, individual responsibility and ethical action. Echo Horizon School is seeking a Technology Assistant who will provide help desk support to faculty, staff, and students, mentor students in coding and digital media during recess and inquiry & innovation time, and provide technical assistance to teachers when they are teaching their class in a lab or classroom setting.

Echo Horizon School is a technology rich environment. The Technology Department is comprised of the Director of Technology, a part-time onsite IT Consultant, and the Technology Assistant. Students and teachers enjoy a better than 1:1 student to device ratio (MacBooks and iPads) and each classroom is equipped with a SMARTBoard, printer, and various other peripherals. Technology is used extensively throughout the school day. We expect that the ideal candidate will be adept at troubleshooting issues with Macs, iPads, printers, and SMARTBoards, effective at communicating with adults and children, collaborative, organized, and motivated to learn about and implement coding and digital media opportunities for students and teachers.

34 hour/week, non-exempt position (10 month) with some summer work available

Responsibilities and Expectations:
• Work collegially and collaboratively with diverse faculty
• Assist students, ranging in grade levels Pre-Kindergarten to grade 6
• Maintain, inventory, organize, and distribute student and faculty-issued technology equipment and software
• Manage, organize, and track legal forms
• Troubleshoot and address technical issues with Macs, iPads, SMARTBoards, printers, online accounts, and peripherals and interface with onsite IT Consultant for Tier 2 support
• Utilize help desk ticketing system to respond to, document, manage, and resolve technical issues in an efficient and timely manner.
• Provide one-on-one training to users as needed.
• Supervise and mentor students in Technology Center during morning and lunch recess, providing guidance and assistance in using technology for creative expression & coding
• Mentor 3rd-6th grade students in coding and digital media during weekly inquiry & innovation time
• Develop PK-2 exploratory modules in coding and digital media
• Provide technical assistance to teachers when they are teaching in a lab or classroom setting

Minimum Requirements:
• Previous experience maintaining Apple Macs & iPads technology in a school environment
• Working knowledge and experience with computer hardware and software setup, repair and troubleshooting in an Apple (Mac OSX & iOS) environment
• Basic understanding of Windows OS
• Familiarity with iLife, iWork, OSX Mail, MS Office, Filemaker, Scratch, Minecraft, & Apple Remote Desktop
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team situation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent customer service, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working with elementary-aged children
• Interest in and aptitude for coding with elementary-aged children
• Classroom management skills necessary to ensure a safe, productive, and positive environment

Physical Requirements: Positions may require standing for extended periods of time, frequent lifting up to 40 pounds, repeated squatting and bending.
