Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations, the IO technology coordinator will fill a critical role in our federal reporting and technology usage. This role will begin with implementation of the new federal reporting system, be responsible for federal reporting through the new system, liaison with internal stakeholders (SES, Registrar, ARD, HR, admitting departments) on data questions, create procedure manuals, work with Advising staff on refining workflow & processes, and generating documents.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Manage Terra Dotta system: Manage system changes and upgrades; manage troubleshooting; work on custom internal system changes/enhancements and coordination with communications and e-forms; serve as liaison between IO, Terra Dotta, NUIT, and SES; work with SES team on data feed changes; develop, implement and document internal workflows and procedures; internal and external user training, support and troubleshooting; manage and analyze reporting through Terra Dotta, etc.

  • Manage SEVIS compliance: Coordination and management of federal reporting data through audits; run batches as needed to ensure all student events are reported within federal timelines; manages any error corrections as needed. Responsible for student registration each quarter; responsible for alerts management in SEVIS and Terra Dotta; keep abreast of current regulations and changes, etc.

  • Manages all new I-20 and DS-2019 student events: liaise with departments on their portal, work with students through their portal to gather the appropriate information and create the documents, provide training and troubleshooting as necessary; work with departments on sending the documents, liaise with students to get to NU, manage the check in process for new students and register them.

  • Student Advising: advise international student population on immigration related issues, regulations, maintaining status etc.

  • Identify changes as needed: review our processes and encourage Terra Dotta to change their system and/or update how our process may work best; stay up to date on SEVP regulations; coordinate any potential changes

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree Social Sciences, Humanities, Higher Education, IT or related field;

  • 2 years as a DSO/ RO with significant experience in batching, other third party system, or RTI reporting;

  • Understand the SEVP environment;

  • Ability to meet the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security requirements to be a DSO/ARO

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Humanities, Social Sciences, Higher Education or related filed

  • 3+ years with hands-on Batching or a third party reporting system

  • Significant experience in interpreting regulations relating to reporting and student/scholar status

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Knowledge of a global language(s)

  • Experience with presentation and workshops at NAFSA annual, regional or other international education association
