Position Begins: August 2020

Status: Full-time (11-month), Exempt

Department: Instructional Support, Upper School

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be an educator at heart who sees technology as a vital tool for student learning and productivity. To this end, the Upper School Technology Coordinator is responsible for partnering with Upper School faculty to develop technology-enriched lessons, modeling the use of technology as an effective tool for teaching, and training faculty on new technologies. We seek, too, a candidate with a gift for collaboration and who is eager to shape a division-wide vision for how the Upper School might integrate technology effectively. As importantly, we seek a candidate who has a demonstrated passion for supporting students, and a track record for leveraging this passion into effective practices where students learn not only how to use technology creatively, but in ways that further SPA’s goal of a responsible, inclusive learning environment. Students seek the Upper School Technology Coordinator for both real-time technical support and help imagining bigger projects. The Upper School Technology Coordinator also takes a vital role in our new student orientation and parent communications regarding technology matters.

The most successful candidates will approach their role as an advisor with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are the goals. Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration and communication with both colleagues and students, are required. Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where openness to growth is the norm.

Required:

A bachelor’s degree in education or a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience of supporting technology integration desired. Skill and understanding of a range of devices, operating systems, educational applications, and online platforms for instruction are a must. A high level of expertise and ability to effectively train students and teachers to leverage tools such as Google Suite for Education and interactive (SMART) displays in a range of instructional modes across content areas is also required.

SPA is committed to diversity and equal opportunity.
