The Village Community School, a K-8 school located in the West Village, seeks a self-motivated, collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking Technology Coordinator/Teacher. This is a full-time, 10-month position. This position reports to the Director of Technology and works closely with faculty, students, and administration to support and enhance the use of technology in the classroom and the school as a whole. 

 

The Technology Coordinator/Teacher provides support and training to students and faculty, teaches 2nd Grade Technology classes, and plays a key role in leading and further developing VCS’s Technology/STEAM program and curriculum. Additionally, s/he is a self-motivated, service-oriented team player who provides first level technical expertise and support to teammates and the school community.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Technology Department and collaborate with all of our faculty, staff, and admin to build on our Technology and STEAM initiatives. Must remain current with educational technology trends and best practices.

 

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Work collaboratively with faculty to seamlessly integrate technology, in an effort to enhance instruction and learning, to further their curricular goals 

  • Work with the Technology Team to identify and implement expanded offerings and opportunities for Technology and STEAM experiences for staff and students

  • Teach 2nd Grade Technology Classes (2020-2021 school year)

  • Develop and lead professional development sessions for faculty

  • Train students, faculty, and administration to use available software and hardware. For the 2020-2021 school year, following health & safety guidelines, we are maintaining a 1:1 program throughout the school (K-1st and 8th Grade 1:1 iPads; 2nd-7th grades 1:1 Mac laptops).

  • Work with Technology Department members to troubleshoot helpdesk support requests

  • Investigate innovative technologies and applications for implementation in the classroom

  • Keep up to date with current trends in educational technology

  • Must be self-motivated team player, adaptable, flexible, with a growth mindset and have both a good sense of humor and patience when working with others
