The Technology Director reports to the Director of Operations and Advancement and is responsible for managing the daily operations of ISB’s technology as well as overall technology strategy in support of the faculty, staff, and administration. This includes: managing the infrastructure, short and long term planning, purchasing, end-user support and training, vendors and outside services management, and data management. The Technology Director is a member of the Technology committee, will work closely with the Technology Integrator and advise on classroom technology, curriculum, and software. The successful candidate has excellent written and verbal communications skills, is highly organized, and can successfully manage multiple projects at once. They should be comfortable working with all departments in a school environment including Admissions, Advancement, Academics, and Business Office and should understand these departments processes, workflows, norms and goals.

The Technology Director's responsibilities include:

  • Managing the configuration, installation, maintenance and ongoing support of the school’s network infrastructure including:
    Physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, VMware)

  • Network devices such as firewalls, switches, and wireless access points

  • All software services such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, File and Print Services

  • Managing ISBs GSuite for Education and Active Directory systems, including user management, security, training, and support

  • Managing outside vendors such as ISPs, Print and Copy Services, security services and various other MSPs to ensure proper operations

Managing ISBs Student Information System (Veracross):

  • Support all users across all departments in day-to-day operations

  • Ensuring proper deployment of yearly admissions and re-enrollment cycles, reports and transcripts, scheduling, and fundraising

  • Plan, deploy, and support new services as needed

  • Ensuring proper data entry and “cleanliness” of data

  • Ongoing training for new staff, as for existing staff as new features are released

Other Responsibilities

  • Planning, purchasing, deployment, maintenance, training, and support of all faculty, staff, and admin desktop, laptops, and tablets

  • Installation, support, and training of all classroom technology such as interactive projectors, Apple TVs, speakers, and other peripherals

  • Management of 1-1 laptop program in the middle school, including purchasing and deploying new laptops, end-user technical support, accurate record keeping, and warranty replacements

  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date and complete documentation of the school network, hardware, servers, systems, and recovery processes

  • Management of E-Rate and FAMIS purchasing

  • Long and short term planning of technology purchases, upgrades, and system maintenance, including the creation and implementation of a multi-year technology plan

  • Management of various other systems such as our MDM platform, Papercut Print Server, and Anti-Virus software

  • A/V setup and operation during special events (which sometimes occur outside of normal working hours)

  • Management of keycard and door access systems

  • Management of security cameras and DVR

  • Supporting families in their use of ISB data systems such as the website and Veracross

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field

  • Five plus years working in a school technology department.

  • Organized self-starter who enjoys assisting faculty and students with their learning.

  • Experience with databases, network administration (including wireless and firewalls), G Suite for Education administration, and information technology resources and services is important.

  • Strong familiarity with typical school hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, interactive projectors,) and typical software (Apple platform, G Suite including Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides, Microsoft Suite, web-based applications, licensing, databases, etc.)
