Primary Function: The role of the Help Desk technician is to serve as a primary point of contact for teachers, staff, parents, and students and supporting them with a range of skills and troubleshooting various issues. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, patience, an ability to learn on your feet, and a team mindset. The Help Desk Technician is situated in the Technology Department and reports to the Technology and Innovation Director. In the average day, the help desk technician may do any or all of the following:

  • Show a teacher how to post an assignment on Google Classroom.

  • Walk a parent through logging on to a new platform.

  • Troubleshoot a printer.

  • Help a staff member create an engaging PowerPoint presentation.

  • Set up a Survey Monkey form to gather information.

  • Work with a team to devise the best way to accomplish a goal using technology tools.

You are an excellent candidate if the following apply to you:

  • You are comfortable in a variety of platforms, especially Google Apps (Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and Office 365.

  • You quickly learn new technologies and tools.

  • You have patiently supported your grandparents, parents, friends, and/or others as they tried to fix their television, computer, smart phone, or tablet.

  • You like to teach others new skills.

  • You like to “figure things out” when they go wrong and navigate better ways to accomplish established tasks.

  • You are a self-starter and self-directed learner, leveraging tools like YouTube or Podcasts to learn new skills.

  • You are comfortable in a variety of platforms (Windows, Apple, Android, and iOS).

  • You have a growth mindset and want to further your skills in this arena.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience.
