Responsibilities

Head-Royce School, an independent co-educational day school in Oakland, California, is seeking an Innovation Coordinator to join our Technology Department in supporting and championing tools, mindsets, and best practices in the support of intentional, transformational, and purposeful uses of technology to further learning and teaching. It is important that candidates possess the flexibility, energy, sense of humor and commitment to teamwork that life in an independent school requires. The Innovation Coordinator will collaborate with technology team members, divisional and departmental leadership, and student groups to support existing technologies and develop strategies for improved processes using reliable and appropriate technology solutions. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a growth mindset, a proven record of taking on new challenges and eager to use and grow their technology and teaching skills. This is a full-time 12 month position reporting to the Director of Technology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with divisional leadership in understanding their goals for students and faculty, while working with faculty to ensure that the ways that technologies (ie. GoGuardian, HRSConnect/Blackbaud, Google Workspace, WeVideo) are implemented, supported, and used in classrooms are thoughtful, meaningful, and impactful.
  • Collaborate with and support departments, teaching teams, and individual teachers in shaping the use of technologies that enhance the teaching and learning experience.
  • Lead regular training sessions on new and existing technologies, maintaining documentation and guides for asynchronous learning.
  • Assist teachers, students, and administrative teams with daily technology use.
  • Create documentation and tutorials focused on classroom, office and school-wide technology initiatives.
  • Assist in the management of the 1:1 Chromebook program for grades 3-8.
  • Assist the technology team with troubleshooting, training, support, and guidance. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Classroom hardware and software (projectors, sound systems, interactive flat panels microphones, Google Workspace)
    • Front-end learning management system support and training
    • Cybersecurity awareness and training.

  • Demonstrated flexibility in terms of changing demands, priorities, and ability to handle deadlines and pressure with a commitment to high standards regardless of deadlines or pressures.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a 4 year degree.
  • Five or more years of classroom teaching and/or technical support experience desired.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with Google Workspace for Education, Blackbaud K12, GoGuardian, and/or similar academic and educational and classroom-management tools
  • Sensitivity to, and commitment to working with diverse racial, ethnic, gender, cultural, as well as disabled populations and promoting equity and inclusion for our constituents
  • Experience incorporating DEI principles into K-12 technology
  • Basic understanding of networking and network-related services
  • Ability to climb a ladder to service classroom projectors and similar equipment
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 30 pounds
