Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, the Technology Innovation Manager is responsible for implementing services that support faculty in the creation and utilization of new multimedia and emerging technologies in the curriculum and also in support of the College's strategic plan.  The Technology Innovation Manager will work collaboratively with the Center of Excellence to support student learning through learning design and the use of technology.  This includes partnering with faculty in the learning design process to make the best use of available teaching methods in exploring new technologies that can support student learning.  The Technology Innovation Manager will coach and empower delivery teams to adopt a culture of innovation to better serve students and stakeholders. This position will support the incubation of creative and innovative ideas and projects to reimagine the educational experience through a wide variety of academic and emerging educational technologies. The Manager will further serve as a subject matter expert in utilizing technology to scale, grow and increase the effectiveness of on-going operations.  The innovation manager will continually challenge the status quo to help move the institution toward greater student outcomes through the effective use of contemporary and emerging technologies.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Consults with and advises faculty in effective use of instructional media and technology.

  2. Collaborates with Classroom Technology Manager and subject matter experts, consultants, external partners, faculty and students to design and test high impact innovations built on sound cognitive science and learning experience design methodologies.

  3. Integrates technologies such as social networking, mobile technologies, and other applications.

  4. Remains current and share knowledge about developments in academic and emerging technology.

  5. Serves as a staff expert on technological trends and equipment in the market place and articulate how these trends will impact and enhance the student experience.

  6. Provides support and resolves educational technology issues in collaboration with other staff members.

  7. Facilitates implementation of instructional media innovations.

  8. Participates in collaborative technology projects across the college.

  9. Serves as a staff expert on technological trends and equipment in the marketplace and articulates how these trends will impact and enhance the student experience.

  10. Oversees multiple innovation projects to meet cost, scope, and schedule constraints.

  11. Develops and executes an innovation roadmap in enabling key capabilities and customer outcomes.

  12. Ability to roll up your sleeves to assist with delivering innovation projects while empowering other department leaders.

  13. Performs special projects and related responsibilities as initiated and requested.

 

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area of specialization; Strong track record for growing innovation capability and maturity within the organization; Two to four years' developing  platforms to take ideas from concept, operation, to scale; Three plus years' scoping, leading and delivering innovation initiatives; Passion from moving out of the status-quo and leading change that makes an impact; Ability to understand instructional needs and acquire the tools necessary for cutting edge and innovative instruction, student engagement, and learning laboratory experimentation; Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in educational technology and an intrinsic desire to learn new and emerging technologies that apply to education; Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Business Management, Information Technology and Computer Science or Engineering experience; Desire and/or proven ability to engage in visioning with senior leadership for fostering an environment of pedagogical innovation and digital creativity, including online learning; Three plus years' providing technology solution in a college environment.

SALARY RANGE:   $62,403-$65,000/year, plus a comprehensive State benefits package

HOURS:  37.5 hrs./week
