Grace Church School seeks a Lower School Technology Instructor and Lower and Middle School Integrator.

The person in this position will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer as well as the Lower School (LS) and Middle School (MS) faculties. The position has a dual focus, half of which is providing technology instruction to LS students and half of which is providing technology integration that supports the LS and MS faculty and curriculum. The LS Technology Instruction includes the units and skills identified in the LS Technology Curriculum map and include keyboarding, Google Suite, grade appropriate apps, etc., as well as exposure to design/maker competencies (e.g., coding, robotics, Makey-Makeys, etc.) as permitted by the schedule. Technology integration invites teachers from Lower and Middle School to collaborate with the Tech Integrator and other instructors on inquiry-based, collaborative projects on a rotating basis.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Technology instruction in Grades 2, 3 and 4

  • Familiarity with coding, robotics and other design/maker competencies

  • Integration of technology into lower school and middle school curriculum (collaborating with individual instructors on request)

  • Participating in inquiry-based projects following the process of a creative design model (e.g., Design Thinking, Design Learning, STEAM or  PBL)

  • Provide training to Lower School Faculty in groups and individually with regards to curriculum resources as well as integrated curriculum project.

  • Provide support to faculty and students on technology-related questions

  • Manage online subscriptions for select LS and MS websites and apps

  • Attend periodic grade level meetings with LS and MS Division Heads

  • Collaborate closely with Chief Technology Officer on technology related project development

  • Create and lead presentations/workshops for faculty members regarding new technology, creative design models and other innovations

  • Research and share current trends in educational technology

  • Assist with shared duties as a member of the Lower and Middle School community 

  • Support LS Faculty in implementing new technology resources 

 

Requirements:

LS Technology Instructor / LS and MS Integrator should inspire students to creative use of technology beyond basic skills. S/he must be highly experienced in the Macintosh environment, managing iPads, MacBooks as well as Chromebooks. S/he should be familiar with Google Suite and a wide range of elementary age-level apps. S/he must have knowledge and experience of technology integration, displaying effective collaboration and communication skills with colleagues.

  • Bachelor’s degree (coursework related to Early Childhood/Childhood Education, Technology, Project Based Learning and STEAM Education a plus)

  • Teaching experience, especially teaching technology in an educational setting, is a plus.

  • Mastery of Macintosh environment

  • Mastery of Google Suite

  • Experience with an inquiry-based learning models (e.g., STEAM, PBL, Design Thinking)

  • Collaborative Integration skills of working with other instructors from any discipline to integrate technology and facilitate interdisciplinary curriculum development
