Overview

The Kinkaid School is seeking a dynamic, innovative Technology Integration Specialist to join its Upper School team starting August 2021. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching faculty and teaching upper school age children. Reporting to the Head of Upper School and Director of Technology, the Upper School Technology Integration Specialist will be called on to promote innovative teaching practice and will partner with faculty to utilize the appropriate technology from an ample array of resources to further great teaching and deep learning. 

The Kinkaid School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school enrolling over 1,400 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Located on a sixty-five-acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the School offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban, diverse culture. With an enrollment of about 615, the Upper School fosters a learning environment centered on academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and personal attention. The Upper School faculty enjoys small class sizes and a collegial, collaborative environment centered on intellectual curiosity and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to encourage faculty to integrate technology authentically into their teaching practice to more fully utilize Kinkaid’s BYOD program 

  • Advance protocols for blended and online learning experiences for Kinkaid students 

  • Assist faculty to leverage the video-conferencing tools implemented as part of COVID-19 mitigation 

  • Teach up to two sections of Computer Science classes each semester 

  • Serve as an advisor to ten to fifteen upper school students 

  • Enjoyment in teaching students across the entire range of grades (9-12) 

  • Serve as a member of the Technology and Computer Science Departments, attending departmental meetings, developing and updating course curricula, and supporting the work of the department 

  • Support the School, its mission, and its leadership 

  • Engagement in the school community by attending athletic and art events 

  • Additional responsibilities such as coaching a sport or sponsoring a club and participating in Interim Term during the month of January 

  • Collegiality and high professional standards 

  • The natural ability to model Kinkaid’s four core values (honesty, responsibility, respect, and kindness) in interactions with all members of the community

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an educational field (Master’s degree preferred) 

  • Experience teaching upper (high) school students with proven mastery in effectively delivering Computer Science content 

  • Experience in coaching technology skills 

  • Core knowledge about the development of upper (high) school age students 

  • Passion for and experience with integrating technology into the curriculum 

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Eagerness to grow professionally and remain current within the field 

  • Commitment to collaboration and high ethical professional standards
