The Evergreen School, an independent school from Preschool through Grade 8 serving highly capable students, is currently accepting applications for a Grade 4 - 8 Technology Integration Specialist/Teacher. The school is located in Shoreline, Washington, approximately half a mile north of Seattle and is fully accredited by NWAIS (Northwest Association of Independent Schools). The school was founded in 1963 to provide a nurturing environment for children with extraordinary minds. The Evergreen School technology program consists of both specific technology classes and technology-integrated projects within other subject-area classes. The Specialist/Teacher will teach upper division (grades 5-8) classes focused on digital citizenship, computer science, multimedia, engineering, electronics/robotics, design and maker skills. In addition, the Specialist/Teacher will support faculty throughout the upper division as they integrate effective technology tools into their classes. The ideal candidate will have experience designing project-based, student-centered educational experiences along with a passion for design thinking, making and STEM education.

Teaching Responsibilities

?The Specialist/Teacher will teach upper division (grades 5-8) technology classes focused on digital citizenship, computer science, multimedia, engineering, electronics/robotics, design and maker skills.

?Teach 1-2 middle arts class each semester in a technology related field.

?Plans, develops and implements courses of instruction designed to achieve student learning objectives as outlined in the Evergreen technology curriculum.

?Incorporates creative development skills such as innovative design and maker thinking into the instructional program.

?Collaborates with other technology faculty to maintain a relevant, coherent school wide technology curriculum.

?Manages technology equipment, supplies and instructional materials.

?Works collaboratively with other staff and administrators.

?Reports regularly to parents and is responsive to parental concerns.

?Maintains confidentiality in sensitive matters.

?Supports, promotes and implements The Evergreen School policies and procedures.

?Attends regularly scheduled section and division meetings.

?Participates in professional activities to stay current with technology curriculum, materials and tools.

?Other responsibilities as needed.

 

Integration Specialist Responsibilities

?Help train and support faculty to use the school’s technology systems.

?Work closely with subject-area teachers as a resource in the development of activities that effectively utilize technology to maximize student learning.

?Stay current on latest technology trends to determine how they many help the school fulfill its mission.

?Take leadership role in researching and implementing new school-wide technology systems as related to teacher and classroom use.

?Create and maintain a technology integration strategic plan.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for this position should have several years of experience working with students in fourth through eighth grade. Knowledge of gifted education and independent school culture is also important. Candidates should be comfortable speaking to small and large groups, communicating orally and in writing, mentoring and coaching faculty, and working collaboratively as a member of a team. All candidates should at the minimum have the following qualifications:

1.A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related technology field.

2.Familiarity with current trends in educational technology

3.Familiarity with current educational trends in gifted education.

4.The ability to relate to others and work in a team setting.

5.The ability to think independently.

6.Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.

Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s background and experience and will be competitive with similar positions in Seattle area independent schools. The position will begin in August, 2017.
