The principal role of the Lower School Technology Integrationist is to collaborate with the STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, Math) team, teach weekly technology lessons, and support both students and faculty in their technological growth and understanding.

Requirements:

  • Experience integrating technology into a K-4 curriculum

  • Knowledge of current trends in educational technology related to STEAM

  • Knowledge of child development, especially in connection with technology

  • Strong background in technology, engineering, and/or design thinking

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues relevant to the classroom and STEAM education

  • Master’s Degree related to Education and/or Technology/Science

Responsibilities:

  • Design curriculum and teach technology classes to students in Grades 2-4

  • Differentiate instruction to support group and individual learning, and provide extra support and enrichment as needed

  • Collaborate with faculty to design and implement STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) projects in Grades Pre-K-4

  • Provide training to faculty with regards to technology-related curriculum resources

  • Support faculty and students with technology-related issues

  • Manage online subscriptions for various web applications

  • Maintain an ongoing curriculum map for Lower School Technology

  • Attend regular STREAM meetings, as well as faculty meetings, professional development days, and grade-level team meetings as needed

  • Collaborate with the Middle and Upper School Technology Integrationists

  • Commit to addressing social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-bias education in the curriculum

  • Track and assess student progress by communicating with classroom teachers

  • Provide information on individual student progress on twice-yearly report cards

  • Support the Lower School Administrative Team with the implementation of ON Suite and the use of other communication tools, including developing systems, notices, and class webpages for communication with parents

  • Perform assigned, ongoing scheduled responsibilities with care (roof duty, lunch duty, dismissal, etc.)

Preferred Skills and Expertise:

  • Demonstrated ability to support Google Apps for Education and integrate the suite of tools into the classroom

  • Practical knowledge of mainstream educational software applications (i.e. Scratch, LEGO WeDo 2.0, Tinkercad)

  • Understanding of multiple OS platforms and device form factors

This position includes the option to apply for an additional role of Lead Education Technologist. The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and continuously refining the Pre-K-12 technology scope and sequence

  • Researching and evaluating new and emerging educational technologies

  • Guiding the school’s ongoing efforts to ensure that students in each division acquire the full range of technical skills they will need for success at the next level

  • Maintaining our new maker space and science/technology facilities

  • Collaborating with LS/MS/US department chairs and division heads to identify technologies to support specific instructional goals

  • Developing, coordinating, and teaching workshops to train teachers in the use of new tools and instructional applications
