We are seeking a ​full-time Technology Manager, reporting to the Director of Information Technology and Facilities. The Technology Manager will be responsible for maintaining and extending the IT infrastructure of the School, ensuring the safety of all critical data, and ensuring staff, faculty, and students receive timely support for IT issues.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage all day-to-day IT operations at Sacred Heart School of Halifax;

  • Setup, distribute and support new hardware, software and network services, including Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, desktops, client peripherals, telephones, classroom multimedia systems, including printers and audio ​visual projection/display systems;

  • Manage the help desk support system of work orders, phone, email, and face​ to ​face work, including providing direct support to end users;

  • Manage storage and backups to ensure safety of all critical data;

  • Develop, maintain and document technology processes and best practices;

  • Maintain an accurate record of technology assets and inventory;

  • Assist the Director of Technology with defining and overseeing the IT architecture, including the LAN and wireless networks, voice communication system, and virtualized server stack;

  • Collaborate with senior administrators to help establish goals for the IT department and the long-term roadmap, including IT system and services upgrades, adoption of new services, and replacement of old systems/services;

  • Manage all aspects of network, workstation, and server installation, administration, configuration, and deployment;

  • Manage Blackbaud database and web services (Education Edge, Raiser’s Edge, OnProducts);

  • Organize the budget and annual refresh cycle for all devices (cleanup, upgrade, roll-out);

  • Occasional evening/weekend work will be required.

Our​ ideal candidate will have:

  • Post-secondary education in an IT related field as well as 5+ years of industry experience;

  • Strong understanding of databases to support staff and ensure data integrity;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt communication to a specific audience (students, teachers, parents);

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with an ability to multitask;

  • Proactive, positive team player with a hands-on attitude;

  • Strong knowledge of network configuration and administration, including routing and switching, VLANs and network infrastructure;

  • Proven experience with
    • G Suite for Education

    • Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Windows 2008/2012 Server administration and support

    • Microsoft Remote Desktop Services

    • Virtual Server technologies (Microsoft Hyper-V)
