Summary of Duties

The Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI) seeks an experienced Technology Solutions Engineer to help pilot and launch new data and analytics services within our new space in the renovated Pomerene Hall (opening early June 2018). The Technology Solutions Engineer will work directly with the industry partners to pilot, implement, and maintain new analytics software, hardware, and services within the TDAI software, hardware, and visualization labs. He/she will serve as the lead in evaluating new technology platforms from industry, performing software installations in TDAI labs, negotiating contract terms, coordinating license server administration, and designing services to support TDAI faculty, staff, and students in learning and utilizing a wide range of analytics technologies/platforms.

The Technology Solutions Engineer will serve as the primary campus expert on relevant technology projects for TDAI faculty, staff, students, and industry partners. They will become highly proficient in a wide range of software and hardware platforms, serving as a technological consultant on research and teaching projects for our community. They will help create user-facing documentation and work directly with TDAI and industry partners to design educational workshops and training for a multitude of data analytics technologies. They will also provide client support by responding software requests and problems.

He/she will partner with the Office of the CIO on localized and enterprise technology solutions. Performs technical planning, solutions development and modification of specifications. Assists with specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integration across interdependent technologies. Pro-actively assist customers with technical issues that may arise with OCIO Services and the on boarding to services. Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis. As customer advocate, works with service owners, engineering, and product management to prioritize and implement timely resolutions. Become a service expert and act as a key point of contact for internal and external technical questions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrated knowledge of high performance computing, analytics platforms, software license management; strong communication and strategic planning skills; demonstrated ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

Desired Qualifications

Five years of experience working with experts in academia and industry on research and teaching related projects that leverage analytics software; ability to quickly master analytics-based software; project management, budget management, and team leadership; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate detail technical information to the average business user in a concise manner; customer focused with the ability to translate customer needs into actionable solutions.
