Job Summary
 
The Technology Specialist reports to the Director of Technology and works for the IT (Information Technology) department helping users directly with their technology problems. The role of this position is one of direct faculty and staff support, which includes responding to Trouble Tickets for service requests and emergency requests throughout the day to help facilitate technology in the clasrooms. This position is also responsible for Chromebook Cart management, delivering the carts when they are reserved and managing the cart schedule. This position includes troubleshooting simple computer and/or network issues as well as simple technology maintenance, replacing ink cartridges, replacing used keyboards/mice, troubleshooting internet connections, etc.
Responsibilities
 
Troubleshooting and User Support
  • Directly assist all users in school with their technology needs and problems, prioritizing their needs based on urgency.
  • Promptly and professionally responding to requests, both trouble tickets and oral to computer or networking issues.
  • Ensuring that all computer systems are running correctly.
  • Replacing ink toner, old keyboards/mice and other computer parts as needed.
  • Keeping computer parts and inventory organized.
  • Supporting users directly by helping them set up their wireless devices and connecting them to printers when appropriately.
  • Helping set up technology in classrooms and offices or in preparation for meetings.
  • Organizing and managing computer cloning strategies to clone individual computers on a need-basis and all classroom/staff computers three times a year.
  • Troubleshooting simple hardware and network problems.
  • Resetting students/staff passwords.

Chromebook Cart Management

  • Deliver chromebook carts to the classrooms that request it.
  • Organize and maintain the chromebook cart request system.
  • Ensure that the cart is well taken care of, neat, and charged.
Computer Cloning
  • Clone individual computers when needed.
  • Mass-clone classroom and office computers three times a year.
  • Organize and maintain a cloning schedule.
  • Create, organize, and maintain computer images.
