This position reports to the manager in charge of technical and developmental infrastructure within Classroom Labs.  Administers lab computers, applications, virtual desktop, and supporting server infrastructure.  Supervises two full time positions and student workers as needed.  Maintains equipment inventory.  All Information Technology Services employees are expected to demonstrate a commitment to exemplary customer service in all facets of their work. 

 

Operations: Recommend, configure, and install software and hardware resources on desktop computers, servers, virtual desktop pools, and other technological resources. Maintain inventory for lab equipment and laptop checkout program. 

Support: Diagnose problems with computer lab services and virtual resources and maintain existing resources. Interact with LSU vendors and support personnel to plan and implement solutions to computer labs and classroom software and hardware questions and problems.

Analytics: Maintain problem / service records as required by ITS, LSU, and vendors. Provision and maintain analytics mechanism for lab software and lab equipment usage.

Documentation: Establish and maintain documentation of computer lab and classroom hardware and software support by ITS, and develop and deliver training resources for student workers to speed the development of technology and solutions.

Supervision: Supervise and instruct 10-15 student analysts supporting the computer labs and virtual environment.

 

Other duties as may be assigned by senior analysts or management.

 

Minimum Qualifications ITA 1:
Bachelor’s degree with 1 year experience. Good analytical and communications skills. One or more
years of related technical experience.

Minimum Qualifications ITA 2:
Bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience. Good analytical and communications skills. One or more
years of related technical experience.

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
One or more years experience in Microsoft Active Directory, PC support, PC imaging, hardware
troubleshooting, operating systems such as Windows & Server, ESX, Mac OS, Linux. Experience in
University environment and with academic software. Basic scripting knowledge.

Examples of work ITA 1:
Sets up and manages printers, scanners, etc.
Conducts inventory of hardware, software, and other appropriate equipment
As applicable, provisions and updates: servers, applications, and/or operating systems.

Examples of work ITA 2:
Conducts more complex or sensitive deployments.
Troubleshoots and resolves intermediate technical issues in collaboration with staff.
Manages the life-cycle replacement of hardware and software.
