Job Summary

Provides direct technical support and coordination of specialized technical and advanced user support for equipment, networks, systems, telecommunications and/or technology security.  Serves as lead worker, assigning and monitoring the work of others, provides oversight of temporary and student workers; trains and mentors less experienced staff, as assigned.  Responds to requests for technical assistance and resolves complaints.  Designs and formats complex documents; composes basic original documents, correspondence and presentations.  Adheres to and ensures compliance with applicable policies and procedures.  Assists in the preparation of budgets.

Essential Functions

45% - Serves as lead worker, assigning and monitoring work of others, as assigned

10% - Provides oversight of student workers; trains and mentors less experienced staff, as assigned

10% - Responds to requests for technical assistance and resolves complaints

  5% - Designs and formats complex documents; composes basic original documents, correspondence and presentations

  5% - Prepares procedural documentation such as user manuals, draft policies and procedures

  5% - Designs and maintains file and record-keeping systems

  5% - Organizes and/or maintains records and logs according to established procedures

  5% - Keeps assigned tools and/or equipment in clean and safe working condition

  5% - Assists in the preparation of budgets

  5% - Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Information Technology and one year of technical experience in area directly related to assignment. Some assignments may require additional technical training and/or vendor/technical certifications.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, may be considered:  Five (5) years of experience providing IT/AV technical and customer support, in person or over the phone in an educational environment

 

Desired Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related field or five (5) years of experience providing IT/AV technical and customer support, in person or over the phone in an educational environment. 

  2. Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft SCCM imaging and applications deployment including Windows client support. 

  3. Two (2) years of experience in supporting classroom technologies, conference rooms and special events. 

  4. Two (2) years of experience in coordinating large IT deployment projects. 

  5. Two (2) years of experience in networking support. 

  6. One (1) year of experience in supporting health care IP based devices or simulation systems. 

  7. One (1) year of experience in coordination, overseeing, training and coaching staff and clients in IT environment. 

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:  http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense

Will be required to travel and/or work at all GWC locations

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
