Education/experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or related field with relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.

Job Summary

Solves complex technical end user OS, application, and hardware problems that have been escalated by level I technical staff. Works with information technology staff as a level II desktop support engineer and trainer to support RU’s technology needs. Provide leadership to a small team of student employees.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Windows operating system installation & troubleshooting.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience supporting MS Office, email applications, web browsers, Adobe applications and other common desktop software.

  • Experience working with networked computing environments, TCP/IP, wireless networks and software troubleshooting.

  • Working knowledge of mobile computing and mobile OS such as iOS and Android.

  • Knowledge of desktop security best practices.

  • Ability to effectively analyze, research and resolve technical problems; work in a team environment, and interact effectively with faculty, staff, students and vendors.

  • Ability to provide clear and concise written and oral communication.

  • Ability to lift/move 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mac OS X. Experience with Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) and managing printers on Windows servers a plus.

  • Experience with enterprise management of desktop and laptop computers.

  • Experience providing leadership and guidance in a team environment desired.
