West Side Montessori School seeks a Technology Support Specialist to support its faculty and administration in meeting the technological needs of the school and manage the school's technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a range of skills across more than one technology profession (IT, software engineer, web designer, education technologist) as the Technology Support Specialist is the school's only in-house tech resource.

The school uses Apple technology. Approximately twenty laptops (twelve in classrooms) and fifteen desktop PCs use three servers that are backed up on and off-site. There is also an IPad based attendance system. Financial administrators operate in Parallels using Microsoft and QuickBooks software. The successful applicant will receive a competitive compensation package and be eligible for the full benefit package available to employees, including health and dental insurance.

Job Duties include:

Provide timely and comprehensive technical support to faculty and administrative staff requiring assistance with their devices or software, a total of fifty-five colleagues.
Mac OSX software and hardware support (iMacs, MacBooks and iPads). This includes software installation and upgrades and often entails coordination with vendors.
Windows 8 (used via Parallels) familiarity.
Filemaker - New development, support of legacy databases, FM server management, and, in general, a solid understanding of relational databases.
inResonance suite (Filemaker-based school administration software) - modifying tables, layouts and scripts. Stand as the school's point person for all communication, technical issues, upgrades and training.
Network troubleshooting experience with wired and wireless hardware (Sonicwall, Netgear and Aruba).
Basic understanding of hosted VoIP systems.
Mac server monitoring and directory account management (create, add, delete).
Close support of teachers in the use of technology, including individual and class projects, technical issues and advice on 'best uses'.
Printers - inventory, troubleshooting and toner replacement.
Management, movement and placement of A/V equipment (projector, laptops, speakers, microphones, etc).
Function as the primary point of contact for technology vendors and outside IT support. Maintain the school’s relationship with its current third party technology consultant.
Website maintenance, design, and coding. Our site uses WordPress.
Google email domain maintenance.
Ability to adopt, learn and train colleagues in new technology and software.
Be ready and willing to help whenever and wherever needed.
Additional software used by the school, where some knowledge would be a plus, includes: Quickbooks, Mac Parallels, Adobe CS6, Microsoft Office, and iPhoto.

The position requires flexibility, time management skills and the ability to tailor assistance to the technical level of each individual. The successful candidate will enjoy helping staff work through technical (and non-technical) problems of any level and often at a moment's notice. S(he) will also provide creative solutions to new projects and bring old ones up to date.
