Holy Child School at Rosemont is a Catholic, coeducational, independent school (Preschool-8th grade) located near the campuses of Villanova University and Rosemont College in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. We strive to ‘Nurture Excellence in a Joyful Catholic Community’ and are seeking applicants for a full time position as a member of our four person Tech/Technology Team.

Holy Child has a sophisticated and complex technological environment and infrastructure. The School is fully-networked with wired and wireless connectivity to accommodate 300+ instructional and administrative users. Our network is comprised of primarily Windows servers in a largely virtualized environment. Instructional areas are equipped with desktops/laptops/tablets, interactive projectors, sound systems and other audio visual equipment to facilitate 21st century learning. Students in grades 5-8 participate in a 1:1 Chromebook program. Laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, iPads and various other devices are available to faculty and students. We have two maker-spaces (one for Lower School students and another for Middle School) where students work on programming, 3D design and prototyping with 3D printers and laser cutters, electronics and robotics. We are a G-Suite school and make extensive use of that suite of products. The Technology Team supports this environment, and helps research and implement best practices both on the educational side of the School, and in the Business side of the organization.

We have an opening for a Technology Support Specialist starting on or about August 19 (there may be some flexibility with the start date). We seek an energetic, organized and task oriented individual who is a self-starter and able to work in a busy environment. This  is a hybrid position – part network support, part helpdesk, part lab manager, part co-teacher. The ideal candidate would have 2-4 years of experience and might be an educator with IT experience or an IT professional with academic experience.

The Technology Support Specialist will be expected to:

  • Provide professional, accurate and timely responses to support requests.
  • Prepare computers and devices ensuring that they are “user-ready.”

  • Be familiar with basic electronics and comfortable “tinkering” with machines.

  • Help to educate end users on systems and to create and maintain procedures and related documentation.

  • Provide support for the MAD Lab (Middle School maker-space) and technology teacher.

  • Support the overall use of technology in both the academic and administrative settings.

  • Communicate and interact effectively with students, teachers, administrators and technology support staff.

  • Provide support and maintenance for our one-to-one Chromebook program.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Be a team player.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to provide systems administration support in Active Directory, account security, file and print, virtualization (VMware), system access.

  • Good interpersonal, communication, problem solving and collaborative skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, the ability to accurately prioritize tasks and to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.

  • Knowledge of commonly used information technology concepts, practices, and procedures.

Education:

  • At least an Associates degree in Information Technology (or related field) or equivalent certifications/experience in technical systems support.

  • At least one year experience supporting technology (Windows, Macs, Chromebooks) at a help-desk or similar situation.

  • A+ certification and/or experience in a school is a plus.

The Technology Support Specialist will report to the Director of Technology and become part of a team consisting of the Director of Technology, the Senior Tech Support Specialist and the School Librarian. This is a 12 month position. Salary and benefits are competitive depending upon education/training and experience.

Interested candidates should email a cover letter and resume to Robin Beaver, Director of Technology at rbeaver@holychildrosemont.org and Tom Lengel, Head of School at tlengel@holychildrosemont.org. We will begin reviewing resumes immediately and hope to have concluded this search by August 1, with a start date shortly after.
