Description

Perelman Jewish Day School seeks a Technology Support Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Technology and Innovation, this professional responds to all support requests related to end-user technology, including but not limited to laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, projectors, wireless access, phones, and a variety of business and academic-related software. 

The ideal candidate is someone committed to excellent customer service and eager to partner with colleagues, students, and families to support and further the school’s mission and core values. Additionally, the ideal candidate is a tech enthusiast who works well independently and collaboratively, possesses strong troubleshooting skills, and enjoys working in a school community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide the first tier of technical support and troubleshooting to employees, students, community members, and guests.
  • Manage the help desk system and life cycle of a support ticket - documenting, assigning, and escalating issues to other tech team members as necessary.
  • General device stewardship - install, maintain, repair, configure, and refresh hardware and software to defined standards on our fleet of up to 500 student, faculty, staff, and loaner computer systems using Meraki MDM and other tools.
  • Support faculty and staff with setup, strike, and troubleshooting at events requiring AV equipment.
  • Effectively research solutions to technical problems via online searches and calls or emails to subject matter experts, persistently trying solutions until the problem is solved.
  • Asset inventory management and tracking using mobile device manager and inventory software.
  • Create and maintain a knowledge base of help and how-to articles that includes but is not limited to instructional aids and recorded tutorials to support the end users resolve issues independently.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with our Technology team, faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Overall, this is a customer-facing position and professionals with customer service experience and a passion for technology are encouraged to apply. The Technology Support Specialist is supported by a School Database Manager, an Educational Technology Coordinator, and an IT infrastructure administrator. 

Job Qualifications:

  • 2-year college/university degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies, or related technology field. Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position, equivalent training, and professional certifications will be considered.
  • Competency with MacBooks, iPads, Google Workspace, and information systems.
  • Current knowledge of available and emerging technologies and media trends.
  • Familiar with fundamentals of cybersecurity and enterprise-level end-user management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills

Compensation for this position will range from $42,000 to $55,000, is commensurate with experience, and includes a competitive benefits package. Paid time off includes Jewish and secular holidays, two lengthy school vacations, and additional PTO. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, FSA, 403(b) and tuition remission. This is a 12-month position and is primarily in person.
