The Technology Support Specialist provides assistance for faculty and administrative computing, working with our Technology Specialists and Academic Support Specialists. The Support Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting computer and printer problems, and supporting the AV needs of school events. This is a part-time (25-hour work week) non-exempt position. The 5-hour workday can be scheduled for either morning or afternoons. Some evening and weekend hours are needed throughout the year.

 

Duties

·  Troubleshoot and resolve or escalate hardware, software, operating system, network, audio-visual, and printing problems in response to help desk tickets and users’ needs.

·  Independently manage and prioritize your work, while communicating workflow to the user support manager, and assist him as needed with tasks.

·  Manage the school’s coordination of printer maintenance with the school’s vendor and perform all toner replacements.

·  Perform setup of audio-visual equipment and manage the AV for those events, some of which occur in evening or weekend hours (about 12 events per calendar year)

·  Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records for all technology equipment & software.

·  Assist in maintaining organization of all technology equipment.

·  Assist in the computer imaging process.

·  Install and test software and updates as directed.

 

Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

·  Knowledge of computer components, systems, peripherals, memory, etc. installation & repair.

·  Knowledge of Mac and Windows operating systems and common wireless networking settings.

·  Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Google Apps for Education, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

·  Ability to organize and prioritize work and switch frequently between short and long term projects.

·  Ability to assemble information and write reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner.

·  Ability to work well with students and adults.

·  Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with a technology crisis.

·  Ability to lift, move, or carry objects or materials.  Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds frequently and fifty pounds of force occasionally.  Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for moderately active work.

·  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·  1-2 years related experience preferred.
