Technology Support Specialist April 14, 2016

Newark Academy, a coeducational independent day school serving grades 6­12 and located in Livingston, NJ, has an immediate opening for a Technology Support Specialist. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, the Technology Support Specialist is primarily responsible for providing hardware and software technical support, training faculty and staff, and ensuring classroom technologies (Mac and PC laptops, iPads, projectors, audio/video systems, and printers) are at optimal performance. Knowledge & Experience

? A degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred; Apple certification is a plus

? Experience supporting technology within an educational institution that is multi­platform (Windows, Macs, Chromebooks, and iPads)

? Strong understanding of Instructional Technology and emerging technologies in independent schools

? Excellent organizational and communication skills

? Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Primary Responsibilities

? Assist with technical support for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and 1:1 initiatives, network infrastructure, database support, web page development, digital video and audio editing, graphics and productivity applications

? Field incoming helpdesk requests from end users via email, telephone, and in person

? Perform preventative maintenance on staff workstations, printers, classroom multimedia technologies, and faculty laptops

? Collaborate with Director of Technology, Instructional Technologist, Database Programmer, and Network Administrator in supporting faculty, students, staff, and parents with Google Services, Learning Management System (Canvas), and School Website (Whipplehill) technical issues

? Provide some after­hours, on­call support for community wide events that require technology support

? Produce and curate digital training resources and end user instructional technology training programs to increase computer literacy and self­sufficiency

? Support Technology and Library Departments in hands­on design and installation of classroom technology
