This position works within the technology services team to support the School’s day-to-day information technology needs and carry out the School’s technology strategic plan. An important responsibility includes supporting the school's one-to-one device program and the candidate should possess both interest and ability in working with students and teachers. The technology support specialist reports to the director of information technology.

Characteristics and Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, A+ certification or equivalent education/experience, and advanced computer skills with desktop hardware, software, and networking, including peripherals such as printers, scanners, projectors, audio-visual, etc.

  • Assists in the day-to-day support of the School’s one-to-one MacBook and iPad program, as well as administrative computer use.

  • Manages the school’s networked multifunction printer fleet.

  • Manages the school’s installed audio/visual equipment, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, Apple TVs, and sound systems

  • Troubleshoots and provides training for a wide variety of applications on Windows and Macintosh operating systems, including Apple iLife, Apple iWork, Google Apps, Microsoft Office, and/or Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • An understanding of how a school works and an appreciation for Darlington’s mission.

  • Interest and ability in leading a technology-related class or activity for students is a plus.

  • A desire and ability to stay up-to-date with technology, continue his/her education and certifications, and evaluate and recommend new and updated technologies for the improvement of academic and administrative areas of the School.

  • As a member of the academic services team, supports the efforts and special projects of the entire technology, library, and learning services team.
