WORKING HOURS: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
STATUS: Non-exempt

Curtis School, an independent, private, Developmental Kindergarten to Sixth Grade coeducational elementary day school, is searching for a Technology Support Specialist (“Help Desk Technician”) to provide problem-solving support to the school’s computer users, mainly comprised of faculty, administrative staff, and students. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Technology Support Specialist’s primary role is to support the Curtis School’s employees and others with their technology questions, problems, training, and use of technology assets, including laptop and desktop computers, notebooks, tablets, printers, projectors, and audio devices, to manage the Help Desk, and to help maintain the school’s inventory of these technological assets

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Responding to and completing support request tickets submitted to the Curtis Help Desk
•    Analyzing and categorizing the Help Desk workflow so as to most effectively and quickly respond to various needs in accordance with efficiency and the seriousness of the issues
•    Providing audio and video support for school events, which are occasionally in evenings or on weekends
•    Creating and updating Curtis Help Desk support documentation
•    Updating asset inventory tracking
•    Deploying new or upgraded equipment to users; helping them get set up if required
•    Troubleshooting equipment and software, making minor repairs when possible, and sending equipment to the repair shop when required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed two years or more of experience providing desktop and application support in a professional environment and have earned a bachelor’s degree

•    Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical people
•    Maintain patience and calmness when dealing with employees who might be frustrated with their technical problems
•    Recognize, analyze, and solve problems in a timely manner using industry best practices and procedures
•    Operate in a fast-paced environment while staying calm under pressure
•    Understand and agree to support the Curtis School Mission Statement
•    Provide enthusiastic support to individuals and groups in collaborative projects
•    Demonstrate a passion for technology and the process of lifelong learning and playing a supportive role to others
•    Enjoy working in a school community environment, including participating in ancillary functions like emergency preparedness, carpool duty (student arrival and drop-off procedures), and other school functions like other school employees do
•    Understand when it is necessary to bring in other resources, such as the Director of Technology or the Technology teachers to assist with problematic issues

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Extensive working knowledge of the following:
o    Apple and Windows 7/8/10 operating systems
o    iOS devices and operating systems
o    Productivity applications, such as Microsoft Office, iLife, iWork, iMovie
o    Printer driver installation and troubleshooting
•    Working knowledge of the following:
o    Remote assistance applications, such as Apple Remote Desktop, VNC
o    TCP/IP wired and wireless networking and related services (DHCP, DNS)
•    Completed a master’s degree

EXTRA CREDIT QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Familiarity with any of the following:
Windows servers and services (e-mail, file, database), Active Directory, Xerox MFPs and Printers, Apple Xserve, MDM solutions (Casper and Cisco Meraki), Blackbaud applications (Education Edge, Financial Edge, Raisers Edge), LMS Solutions (Whipple Hill and FinalSite), virtual servers, data back-up and recovery solutions, network appliances (firewalls, switches, access points), anti-spam and anti-virus solutions, A/V systems, “Maker Spaces”
•    Design thinking or engineering background
•    Working knowledge of emerging and current technologies and their application to an education environment and administrative processes
•    Experience working in a school environment
