Georgetown Day School (GDS), among the most cutting-edge and forward-leaning independent educational institutions in the Washington, DC, area with more than 1,000 students; top-level faculty, leadership, and Board of Trustees; thousands of constituents; and an annual operating budget greater than $40M, seeks to fill a new position, that of Technology Support Specialist for its Lower & Middle School campus.

DESCRIPTION
GDS is seeking an individual to serve as Technology Support Specialist at its Lower and Middle School campus in Washington, DC. The Technology Support Specialist’s core responsibilities including providing front-line computer support for all faculty, staff and students (ensuring the proper operation of laptop computers, printers, and classroom audio/video equipment), managing a database (Zendesk) for tracking support issues, assisting the campus Network Administrator with management, configuration and upkeep of the data network and VOIP phone system, and providing support and assistance with configuration and deployment of new technology (imaging computers, provisioning phones, configuring and deploying wireless access points, etc.).

The ideal candidate will have expertise and/or experience with several "desktop" technologies (including Mac OS X and iOS software, Apple hardware, Windows 7, Chrome OS, Active Directory, Zendesk, Google Apps for Education, Blackbaud/WhippleHill, Adobe CS6 and Creative Cloud), will possess a fundamental understanding of computer hardware (be able to perform basic hardware maintenance on laptop and desktop computers), be a true "people person who has excellent "bedside manner" when providing tech support and strong written and verbal communication skills to supplement their in-person support, is comfortable interacting with a diverse and devoted community of staff and students.

A proactive, organized, energetic, and engaging personality would flourish in this position. This position will also require moderate to significant foot travel (our campus is 105,000+ square feet) and being able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Specific responsibilities include:

Provide timely and effective technology support and training for all faculty and staff
Produce and distribute documentation to supplement in-person support and training
Assist the Operational Technology Lead with the configuration, maintenance, and management of technology including: desktop/laptop/tablet computers, audio/video equipment, cloud services, local servers, printers, copiers, networking systems and equipment, backup systems, etc.
Lead and assist in audio/video setup for assemblies and other campus events
Assist with software training where appropriate/pending relevant expertise
Provision and place VOIP phones
Liase with outsourced support vendors where necessary

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree and at least five years experience working in technology support, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting is required.
