Berwick Academy, a PK-12 coeducational day school located in Southern Maine seeks a technology systems manager to join our staff.  The Technology Systems Manager (TSM) manages the development and implementation of technology systems and initiatives that promote growth and success in teaching, learning, and productivity within the technology infrastructure. Working closely with administration and academic leadership to oversee a variety of services that are important to effective teaching and learning as well as the school’s business practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of the day-to-day operation of the School’s network, servers, databases and other equipment, including routine maintenance of all server equipment, including e-mail server, firewall, enterprise A/V, web filter, HVAC system, and security system.
  • Development of technology strategy, evaluating alternatives (considering existing and emerging technologies with best practices) and executing solutions that enhance the School’s academic and business practices. Taking a leadership role in developing and implementing the school technology plan;
  • Problem solving technology-related issues using both creative and analytical techniques and managing the implementation of projects across functions.
  • Providing oversight of school’s technology infrastructure, network and educational management system.
  • Consulting with administration to analyze computer system needs for management information and functional operations to determine scope and priorities of projects and to discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions. 
  • Developing annual system replacement cycle and manage the overall acquisition and inventories of hardware and software.
  • Managing the technology budget and purchasing of technology-related tools and equipment in coordination with CFO.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or CFO.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience in a technology role;
  • Previous experience with educational technology in PK-12 school environment preferred;
  • Problem Solving Skills - Demonstrates ability to identify and solve problems, effectively and efficiently, after considering a broad range of internal and external factors;
  • Effective Communication Skills (both orally and in writing). Proven experience in identifying partnerships and working with colleagues across departments and divisions.
  • Ability to manage many tasks and projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and maintaining quality work product
  • Experience with the development and administration of a department budget and the management of resources.
  • The ability to maintain sensitive school and student information in the strictest of confidence, exercising absolute discretion and professionalism.
